The Macao 2018 - 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition (hereinafter called “Macao 2018”) had held an Opening Ceremony at Sicily Meeting Rooms at The Venetian Macao on 21st September, 2018. Opening Ceremony officiating guests included Mr. Raimundo Arrais do Rosário, Secretary for Transport and Public Works, Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr. Sun Da, Deputy Director of Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Mr. Yang Chun Guang, Deputy Director-General of State Post Bureau of the People’s Republic of China, Mr. Zhang Jian, Head of the Division of General Affairs of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao Special Administrative Region, Ms. Lau Wai Meng and Mr. Io Hong Kuong, Chairmen of “Macao 2018” Organizing Committee, Mr. Tay Peng Hian, President of Federation Internationale de Philatelie, Dr. Prakob Chirakiti, President of Federation of Inter-Asian Philately, Mr. Gordon Leung, Postmaster General of Hong Kong Post, Mr. Gao Shan, General Manager of Department of Stamp Issuane of China Post Group, and Mr. Zhang Yu Hu, Vice President and Secretary General of All-China Philatelic Federation. They had also officiated at the Opening Ceremony for the Treasure Gallery.
Ms. Lau Wai Meng, Chairman of “Macao 2018” Organizing Committee said during the Opening Ceremony that from 1997 to 2017, Asia International Stamp Exhibition had been held in various countries or regions of Asia. After the exhibition was held in Nanning, Guangxi Province last year, the 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition relocate in Macao this year, which shows that stamp has been playing an important role in improving cultural understanding between different countries throughout the world. Although the size of stamp is quite small, it serves as a carrier of promoting cultures. The Macao 2018 Organizing Committee hopes that through the “Macao 2018”, a “bridge” will be built to further enhance cultural and economic exchanges among countries and regions, to further achieve synergy effects, and further maximize stamp collection’s unique advantage with an aim to enable cultural practices passed on from generation to generation.
“Macao 2018” is held at Cotai Expo Hall A at The Venetian Macao from 21st to 24th September and there is a total of 23 countries or regions participating in the event according to the report. And there are 42 booths of overseas postal administrations or stamp dealers and of local cultural and creative industries entering into this exhibition. Approximately 1000 frames of the FIAP members' philatelic collections are on display. “Macao 2018” is co-organized by Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau and the Macao Philatelic Club and it is classified into four different thematic days including Postal Savings Day, Stamps Day, Letters Writing Day and Festive Day. Moreover, there are distributions of commemorative envelope free of charge according to different thematic days, and arrangements of relevant symposiums and award ceremonies. Different sessions are set including Treasure Gallery, Exhibition Area (Competitive Classes, Court of Honour, and Universal Postal Union Competitive Class), Pillar Boxes, Sales Booths, Sales Booths of Macao Cultural & Creative Industries, Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau Booth (Philatelic Sales, Personalized stamps, Postmark Cancellation and Mail Acceptance), Postal Savings Booth, DIY Postcard Vending Machine, Stamp Vending Machines and Mailing Preparation Area for the public, etc. It is a great opportunity for philatelists and general public to view the precious exhibits and meanwhile buy, mail or DIY their own stamps.

"Macao 2018 - 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition" (hereinafter referred to as "Macao 2018") press conference was held on 20th September at the Venetian Macao Cotai Expo Hall A. After the press conference, Macao media visited different exhibition areas led by Lau Wai Meng, Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau. CTT hoped to promote the development of Macao MICE Tourism and the inheritance of philatelic culture will be carried forward through ¡§Macao 2018¡¨.
There are philatelists from 23 countries and regions competing for the nine stamps competitive awards and its exhibition scale up to 1000 frames. A total of 42 booths were set up for overseas postal administrations, stamp dealers and local cultural and creative industries. At the same time, guided tours were arranged for 1700 people from 22 local schools and associations.
The four-day exhibition is divided into Postal Savings Day, Stamps Day, Letter Writing Day and Festive Day according to the theme, and commemorative envelopes will be distributed for free according to different theme days. New stamps "Macao 2018 (II)", "Macao 2018 (III)" and thematic pack will be issued during the Stamp Exhibition. The Venetian temporary postmark will be available at the exhibition hall as well.
There are Exhibition Area, Treasure Gallery, Pillar Boxes, Sales Booths, Sales Booths of Macao Cultural & Creative Industries, Macao Post & Telecommunications Bureau Booth, Postal Savings Booth, DIY Postcard Vending Machine, Mailing Preparation Area for the Public, Stamp Vending Machines etc. in "Macao 2018". Eight precious postal treasures lent by China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum will be exhibited in the high-profile Treasure Gallery, which will be opened to public after the opening ceremony (on 21st).
After the press conference, Lau Wai Meng, Director of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau, guided the Macao media to different exhibition areas and introduced the new DIY postcard vending machine and stamp vending machine.

Manuscript of R. A. de Villard I, II, III
The earliest stamp design drawings collected in China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum were designed by a foreign official of the Maritime Customs in Qing dynasty called R. A. de Villard. The “Coiling Dragon, Jumping Carp and Wild Swan” stamps were officially issued by the Chinese Imperial Post of the Qing dynasty since 1897. The denomination of the “Coiling Dragon” was in cent, “Jumping Carp” in ten-cent and “Flying Goose” in dollar.
The content of Manuscript of R. A. de Villard covers the design and fabrication of Large Dragon, Small Dragon, Birthday of Empress Dowager Jubilee, Coiling Dragon stamps and postcards. It has a detail description on drawings, denominations, fonts, formats, typesetting, issue date, paper type, printers and fabrication charges. Manuscript of R. A. de Villard is the precious collection of China National Post and Postage Stamp Museum that provides valuable first-hand information for the study of postal history, stamps and postcards during the Qing dynasty.
Large Dragon Stamps
The “Large Dragon Stamps” is the first postage stamps issue of China. This is a set of three stamps with denomination of one Candarin (green), three Candarins (red) and five Candarins (yellow). As this set of stamps features a dragon, it was named “China Large Dragon Stamps”, and commonly known as “Large Dragon Stamps”. The “Large Dragon Stamps” is an important symbol regarding the origin of modern Chinese postal history, and also a key milestone in its development.
Qing Postage Due Stamps Overprinted With “Provisional Neutrality”
When the Republic of China was established on 1st January 1912, there was insufficient time to print new postage due stamps. A. The?ophile Piry, a French in charge of China Post at that time held a neutral position, ordered the supply office of Shanghai Post overprint the words “Provisional Neutrality” in font size 5 with red ink on the London Print Qing postage due stamps which had eight different denominations and put them for sale starting on 30th January.
Soldiers of War Against Japanese Aggression Commemorative Stamps
On 26th August 1938, the commemorative stamp “Soldiers of War Against Japanese Aggression” was issued by the Shanxi-Hebei-Chahar Border Region Provisional Post. These stamps were distributed to the soldiers free of charge as a benefit to them to send letters. The stamp does not have denomination and perforation. The “Soldiers of War Against Japanese Aggression” is the first issue of commemorative stamp during the Chinese people’s revolutionary war period. It is also the first one without denomination and exclusive for military use.
T.46 Gengshen Year Stamps and Original Drawing
T.46 Gengshen Year Stamps were designed by the well-known painter Huang Yongyu and Jiang Weijie. Huang Yongyu created an adorable image of the “golden monkey” in ink wash painting and Jiang Weijie engraved it with beautiful fine lines, which is a perfect reflection of the original design. T.46 Gengshen Year Stamps were issued on 15th February 1980, marked the beginning of the Chinese Zodiac stamp series. Its market price has repeatedly reached record highs.
W7 Poems of Chairman Mao Stamps
Mao Zedong was a great politician, revolutionist and at the same time an outstanding poet and calligrapher. This series has included 13 stamps of Mao’s poems, reducing only the size of the original work without any other alteration. Therefore, the stamps have various dimensions. The carver has used his superb technique to embody the ups and downs of the strokes, lively rhythm, elegance, free and unrestrained style, as well as magnificence of Mao’s calligraphy.
A special edition of Personalized Stamp - Joy will be issued during the exhibition period of MACAO2018. A special design will be printed on the 75mm X 75mm banner on the stamp sheet which will only be available at the Personalized Stamp booth in the exhibition.

The minimum order quantity is 2 sheets with the price of MOP100 per sheet. Only 1 photo will be accepted for printing on the 20 spaces per sheet per order. Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau is going to issue a new postal product - DIY Postcard which allow your own portraits and greetings printed on the postcards. This is a new product out of variety postal products to the public.
"DIY Postcard" is an exclusive souvenir. The personal picture will be taken on the spot and then print on the chosen favorite postcards out of the six designs with famous Macao attractions. Each unique postcard is only MOP10.00 and with a Macao Stamp on the postcard, your greetings could be sent to your friends and relatives.
"DIY Postcard" vending machine will be first put into service at the "Macao 2018 - 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition" at Cotai Expo Hall A - The Venetian Macao from 21st to 24th September 2018. Exhibition visitors, tourists and philatelists can print their exclusive DIY souvenirs at the venue. After the exhibition, it will be located at the General Post Office for citizens and visitors to print their own postcards.
A delegation of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau (CTT) led by Ms Lau Wai Meng, Director of CTT, had visited the All-China Philatelic Federation (ACPF) at Beijing on May 8, 2018. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Yang Limin - the President of ACPF, Zhang Yuhu - the Vice-President and Pan Yonghua - the Deputy Secretary-general.
During the meeting, Ms Lau Wai Ming thanked the All-China Philatelic Federation for their support and assistance in the preparations for the "Macao 2018 - 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition". In order to have a successful exhibition, Ms Lau expected the All-China Philatelic Federation will continue to impart experience and provide guidance for the preparation of the exhibition, continue to help publicize and encourage the collectors to come to visit the exhibition. Since this is the first international stamp exhibition held in Macao, it will attract the attention and interest of stamp collectors from around the world. The President of the ACPF Yang Limin welcomed the delegation's visit. He stated that the All-China Philatelic Federation will give full support and provide all kinds of assistance and utmost publicity for the exhibition. Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau and Macao Philatelic Club will jointly host the Macao 2018 - 35th Asian International Stamp Exhibition. The exhibition is under the patronage of Federation of Inter-Asian Philately (FIAP). The agreement signing ceremony was held on 6th June, 2017, at the Headquarters of Macao Post and Telecommunications Bureau.
The Asian International Stamp Exhibition is a regional philatelic exhibition established by FIAP since 1977, aiming to develop the philately industry. It is the first time that the exhibition held in Macao. This exhibition will be held at the Macao Venetian - Convention and Exhibition Centre, from 21st to 24th, September 2018.
